Detailed directions - From Hwy #11 - at the Kilworthy Rd/South Kashe Lake Rd exit.

After taking this exit, make an immediate right turn and follow the Kilworthy Rd. signs which take you back over the Hwy #11 bridge.

  1. After you have crossed over the Hwy #11 bridge make a left at Kilworthy Rd the first stop sign.
    • Follow Kilworthy Rd, until you pass the Kilworthy General Store on your right then immediately cross over railway tracks, to a "T" in the road.
    • Turn right at the "T" and follow the road, Arthur Schultz Rd, to its end at Country Rd #19 at a stop sign.
  1. Turn left onto County Rd #19/Beiers Rd. For the return trip, take note of the Green Farm house on your left. Follow Country Rd #19 which eventually turns into Country Rd #13/Southwood Rd.
    • You will make a sharp left turn at a small cemetery.
    • Continue past the cemetery to a small fork in the road. Take the right fork and stay on Country Rd #13/Southwood Rd.
  1. Continue on this road past a sharp left at the "All Season Handyman" sign. Continue to the next fork in the road marked by a big brown bulletin board. Take the right fork, which is the continuation of Country Rd #13/Southwood Rd. (Don't take the South Morrison Lake Rd.)
  1. Continue on this road, and after several curves you will come to some mailboxes and a street sign on your right for Balfour Woods Road, pointing left.
    • Also a big stone on the left northwest corner that reads "Balfour Woods Developed by Seaton Group".
  2. Make a left at Balfour Woods Rd.
  3. Follow Balfour Woods Rd. to #1024 or Lot #9 on the right, marked by the first driveway cut into the bush and also by a contractor's sign. Lot #9 is right next to a very small walkway leading down to the lake marked by a big white sign that reads "Private Property - Balfour Woods Cottage Community".

Return Leg

  1. On the return leg you will follow the same Country Rd #13/Southwood Rd. back past where it turns into County Rd #19/Beiers Rd.
  2. However you will continue on County Rd #19/Beiers Rd. past the Arthur Schultz Rd. turn (remember the green farmer's house) and continue right out to Hwy #11, At this junction is a Sunoco gas station, a Country Style and Harvey's restaurant. Take Hwy #11 south to go to Toronto/etc. Take Hwy #11 north to go to Gravenhurst/etc.
  3. That is: you will NOT turn back onto Arthur Shultz Rd. at the "Green Farm House" on the right. That is, don't take #1 in the previous set of directions.

General Map Notes:

  • On the above map, the red arrows indicate the general direction you are going.
  • Hwy 11 is the main highway to the cottage. The white dots on the map indicate "Turnarounds" on the highway: places where there is a bridge and you can turnaround and go the other way. Besides these exits, there are many exits east and west, on and off Hwy #11.
  • In particular, when northbound you will be exiting Hwy #11, at the Killworthy Rd/South Kashe Lake Rd Turnaround. But on the return trip you will be entering Hwy #11 from County Rd #19/Beiers Rd, a non-Turnaround entrance.

General Directions - From Toronto:

  1. Hwy #400 north to Barrie, past the Bayfield/Hwy #26 West/Wasaga cutoff.
  2. Take the Hwy #11 north fork, by staying in the left/centre lanes at the Hwy #400/Hwy #11 cutoff.
  3. Continue north on Hwy #11 past Orillia and past the famous Webers take-out hamburger joint (or infamous, depending on your perspective) with big orange bridge over Hwy #11.
  4. Continue north past Washago (at the north end of Lake Couchiching.) Continue north past the Severn Bridge Turnaround.
  5. After the Severn Bridge, continue north past the Muskoka Tourism Information Centre, then past the Sparrow Lake Route "D" Turnaround exit and then past Muskoka Leisure Docks, all on the right.
  6. You will be exiting on the next Turnaround named: Kilworthy Rd/South Kashe Lake Rd.
    • This is just preceded by a Camp Hillbilly spot on the left side of the highway and a Shell gas station and Coffee Time on the right and.
    • At the exit is a Esso gas station and Country Style restaurant, although this is too late to look for.
